Day 1

Arrival in Germany, visit of Würzburg

After your arrival at Frankfurt Airport, meet and greet your English-speaking tour escort. Depending on the arrival time, you will go on a sightseeing tour in Frankfurt. Transfer to the designated hotel in Würzburg. Enjoy an orientation city tour followed by a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight stay in Würzburg.

Day 2

Würzburg, Coburg, Bayreuth

The former episcopal’s palace Würzburg is among the oldest buildings and most beautiful of Germany. During a guided walking tour, you will pass many of the sights that make up the city’s history: the Falkenhaus with its rococo facade, the Gothic Chapel of St. Mary, the Market Square, the historic Town Hall, Neumünster church and the Alte Mainbrücke (Old Bridge across the river Main) with a marvellous view of the Fortress Marienberg. You will get to know the Residenz, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon, you travel to Coburg for a visit of the Veste, the fortress where Martin Luther took refuge and lived during the Peace of Augsburg. Drive to Bayreuth for the overnight stay.

Day 3

Bayreuth, Franconian Switzerland

Take a city tour of Bayreuth, with rich cultural and historical heritage – the historic center of town, the UNESCO World Heritage Margravial Opera House and Villa Wahnfried with the graves of Cosima and Richard Wagner. To round off your tour you climb the Castle Tower (16th century): from there you can enjoy panoramic views of the Festival Theatre and across to the Fichtelgebirge Mountains. Drive through the typical Franconian Switzerland passing the village of Tüchersfeld. Continue through the romantic highland scenery with chalky, White Jurassic rock cliffs and deep ravines. In the evening, you arrive in Munich for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4

Munich

Today you explore the highlights of Munich, the Bavarian Capital, during a sightseeing tour by bus. Explore the historic city center’s most famous churches, monuments and squares, including the Old Town Hall, St Peter’s Church, Viktualienmarkt, Odeonsplatz and the Munich Residenz. The tour continues to the Palace of Nymphenburg, the former summer residence of the Bavarian elector princes and kings. Afternoon free time. Overnight stay in Munich.

Day 5

Herrenchiemsee

Escape from Munich to Prien on the bank of Lake Chiemsee. After a boat trip you reach the calm island Herreninsel for a visit of one of Germany’s loveliest royal attractions, the magnificent Herrenchiemsee Palace. Built in the 19th century by King Ludwig II, this royal landmark sits among picturesque Bavarian scenery of majestic lakes and mountains. Return by boat to Prien, overnight stay and dinner at a local hotel in the vicinity.

Day 6

Neuschwanstein, Linderhof, Oberammergau

Today you will continue to Germany’s most visited castle: Neuschwanstein, perched high up on a mountain in the Alps. The shimmering white towers of the castle almost touching the clouds are instantly recognizable to many.  „Mad“ King Ludwig II realized this architectural dream and it became world famous. The majestic facade conceals an unbelievable splendor inside: very exquisite furniture, luxurious decors and masterly artistry. The journey will continue to beautiful Linderhof Palace, which is another of King Ludwig’s II Royal Bavarian Castles. After the visit, you continue to the “Passion Play village with heart” in the Alps, Oberammergau. You will check in at your hotel. Day 7

The Passion Play

Oberammergau is not only known for its Passion Play , but also for its woodcarving craft and for its colourful and attractive frescos know as Lüftlmalereien. In the morning you can explore the lovely village, the museum, the parish church and visit a woodcarving workshop. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. Then it is time to take your seat at the Passion Play Theater. The play starts at 2:30 pm. It is performed only by locals. All the actors, musicians, and singers as well as the backstage staff are inhabitants of Oberammergau. Between the different scenes of the life of Jesus Christ you can admire “living pictures” – scenes from the bible are presented as still lifes by actual people. After 2.5 hours it is time for a break. Dinner is waiting for you in a restaurant. After dinner you have the opportunity to stroll around the village and to do some shopping. At 8:00 pm the second part of the play starts. It will last until approximately 11:00 pm. You return to your hotel by coach after the play.

Day 8

Travel Day

Today it is time to say “Goodbye Germany”. After check out transfer to Munich airport and flight back home.
