2011/2012 Chinese Media Education Tour was successfully organized by Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) China agent Oriental Gateway, with support by NTB head office. It was first time for NTB to arrange Chinese media to explore Namibia northeast region. The purpose of this educational tour is to expand awareness of Namibia north east region to further diversify Namibia tourism resource, further capture attention of trade and tourist, while tailor different Namibia related tourism products for sales in Chinese market.
Seven representatives from Chinese influential media (including Hong Kong SAR) were invited to this educational tour. They are China Business Daily, National Business Daily News, Sceneryline Magazine TRAVEL+, East Radio Across Latitude, Eastday.com, ifeng.com (HK). Most of them are senior management have strong spending power. According to final calculation, the group totally spent more than N$250,000 (average p.p. N$35,714) for shopping souvenir, diamond and gem in Namibia.
The whole tour lasted 10 days (from 15th to 24th March), guided by Kobo Safaris. The group visited OKONJIMA, ETOSHA, RUNDU, BAGANI, KONGOLA, SUSUWE, KATIMA MULILO and experienced activities such as Spa, Cheetah feeding, game drive, boat cruise, traditional village visiting, etc.For better collect media feedback OG organized a media thank dinner on 12th April 2012. Positive feedbacks were received. All media were satisfied with arrangements and we Namibia did impress them a lot, especially in nature scenery, upmarket establishments and wildlife.
