Tesfa Trekking Route in the vicinity of Lalibela

Tesfa is a local non-profit, non-governmental organization. It is committed to working with local communities to develop their capacity to manage tourism business. The route is very amazing because of the wonderful landscape in the area and more over staying with local people in each of the sites help visitors to appreciate the norm and value of their culture. In each of the sites, there are ‘tukuls’ (circular thatched roof houses) with enough accommodations. The itinerary is as follows:

Tour by flight, surface and trekking
Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa.
Day 2: Fly to Axum. Sightseeing of Axum.
Day 3: Excursion to the moon temple of Yeha and sightseeing of Axum.
Day 4: Fly from Axum to Lalibela.
Day 5: Visit the Rock Hewn Churches of Lalibela.
Day 6: Early in the morning, drive to Merkhaye Mariam which is not far from Filakit.
Then trek for three hours to Mequat Mariam (alt.2800m).
Day 7: Trek from Mequat Mariam to Wajela (alt.2800) for 7 hours.
Day 8: Trek from Wajela to Aterow (alt.3000) for 5 hours.
Day 9: Trek from Aterow to China road for half an hour. Then drive to Gondar.

Day 11: A.M. drive to Blue Nile Fall. P.M. boat trip on Lake Tana to visit one or two churches or Monastries .

Dodola – Adaba trekking Route

It is the circuit of trail links, which was developed by German Technical Corporation (GTZ). In each of the destinations or sites, there are huts with beds, mattresses, sleeping bags and enough kitchen equipment.
