This park is very beautiful park. The viewpoint from the small hill near Nechsar plain (white grass) to Lake Chamo, Amaro hills (the home of Guji people) to east, Arba Minch town, Guge Mountains to west is very impressive. The park was established in 1967 with an area of 514 km2 which 78 km2 is water body. In the park, about 84 species of mammals and 333 species of birds are found. Swayn’s hartebeest (end.), B. Zebra, Grants gazelle, and Greater kudu, Common baboon, Dik dik are common mammals to see. The endemic bird, Nightjar, was identified in this park. Only the wing part that was recognized after then no one has seen it.
Mago National Park – is a high plateau souring up to 4000m on top of which the second highest peak in Ethiopia, Mt. Tullu Demtu (4377m), among, many is found. The seasonal alpine lakes, some rare birds, and above all, the Ethiopian wolf are spotted here. The wattled cranes, the rare red-shelled duck, are common here. One of the endemic plants, Giant lobelia, is also found on this plateau.
Omo National Park – It is located on the west bank of Omo River. It has an area of 4068 km2 and its altitude varies from 440-1183 m. The riverine forest, savannah woodland, and grassy plains are the vegetations type in the park. The head quarter is found on the Mui River, which is 32 kms from Omo River. About 70 species of mammals and 318 species of birds are found in the park. Animals like cheetah, wild dog, eland, lelwel hartebeest, lions, buffalo, elephant, oryx, gazelle, and kudu are commonly seen in the park.
