The Somali people are living in Ogaden area East Ethiopia. They speak Somaligna language that is Kushitic language group of the Afro-Asiatic Family. Mostly the territory they inhabit is semi-arid and arid wooded savannah and two big rivers flow through The Jubba River that ends in Indian Ocean and the Shabbele River that remains in marshy and sand flat areas. The Ogaden area is rich of incense trees (Boswellia species). From this tree, an aromatic gum resins frankincense and myrrh are produced. In the fabulous history of Ethiopia frankincense and myrrh were one of the commodities which used to be exported to Egypt.The Egyptians were using incense for temple.
The Somali are Muslims of the Sunni sect. Their main subsistence activity is breeding animals like camels, sheep, goats, cows and oxen. Milk from camels, goats, sheep, cows and meat of camels, goat and sheep, some grains are the main food items.
