The Moon temple of Yeha |

The 56 kms road brings visitors to Yeha. The moon temple remarks great significance of the area. It is about 2500 years old temple and still the 12 m high wall is well preserved. Archaeologically, many artifacts discovered from the area like the dreadlocked woman (fertility indication), bronze materials, and Sabean inscriptions on stones. Even though in the area the God of moon used to practice for many years, in 6th century the area was completely changed to Christianity. Aba Aftse, one of the nine saints founded the monastery in the area. Now a day the temple, the church, and the small museum are visited regularly. |
