Barefoot Safari Lodge is just 6 miles/10 km out of Lilongwe, well-signposted to th left of the M12 towards the Zambian border and 1 mile/1.8 km from the main road. Its safe and peaceful site, although close to the city, is the ideal start point for a safari.
Set in acres of lush landscaped gardens are five walk-in tents and plenty of space for guests to pitch their own tents. There’s also accommodation for overland safari vehicles. The tents are under thatched shelters; three with double beds and two with a single bed each. Linen and other necessities are provided. The ablutions have hot and cold water as well as electricity.
New additions to the lodge are five luxury self-contained chalets. All are tastefully furnished in African décor, with tea and coffee making facilities and their own private patio and parking. The most recently completed is a two storey deluxe family chalet which sleeps 5. In addition, a two-bedroomed self catering flat is available, which sleeps 4.
A fully equipped dining area, the Night Jar, and bar offer home cooking and drinks -the perfect place to unwind after a strenuous day. There’s a pool to relax after a safari or take a refreshing plunge on a hot day.
Guests arriving in their own vehicles have the service of a workshop and a mechanic. The camp also provides worry-free 24-hour security.
