Located a short 20 minute drive to the south-west of Blantyre and with magnificent views over the Great Rift Valley and Shire river is Fishermans Rest, a nature reserve supporting antelope in 50 acres of private woodland within which is a luxury lodge and cottage with swimming pool, tea rooms and a gift shop. Up to twelve guests can enjoy excellent cuisine or self-catering accommodation. Below the Lodge and Cottage is the Old Mill Tea House.

The nature reserve is accessed by foot only and is open from sunrise to sunset. It is filled with indigenous trees and its tranquil atmosphere offers a wonderfully peaceful retreat from the stresses of twenty-first century life. The wildlife includes kudu, nyala, gyysbok and other species.

Fisherman’s Rest is exceptionally well located for visitors wishing to spend a few days exploring the parks and sights of the Lower Shire Valley. The lodge and cottage also offer an excellent alternative to Blantyre for small conferences or board meetings with accommodation for foreign executives or dignitaries.

An Aerial Tours and Charter service is also available. This offers experience flights for the tourist and transfers through Blantyre’s Chileka Airport to other national and international destinations.
