Mount Meru Game Lodge & Sanctuary is located in 33 acres of mature, well manicured gardens bounded on one side by the tranquil waters of the Usa River and on the other by the unique Sanctuary where wildlife (to include Zebra, Buffalo, Eland and Waterbuck) and birdlife reside. The property is also bordered by some of the most beautiful forest in Tanzania which serves to add to the exquisite nature offered to visitors and guests.

The lodge comprises 17 double or twin en-suite bedrooms. As you would expect in a property of this standard, the design and character of the rooms are as individualistic as the Lodge itself.

The lounge, with its enormous picture windows and comfortable furniture provides for complete relaxation in intimate surroundings. The bar is well stocked with a wide selection of spirits, beers and minerals which are complemented by a carefully selected collection of fine wines and the dining room provides the perfect setting for a relaxing meal, prepared and served by attentive yet very discreet staff. Alternatively, guests can choose to dine ‘al fresco’ in the gardens to the magical sights and sounds of Africa.

Accommodation is housed in banana stem thatched huts, grouped in semi-circles around tropical shade trees. All guest rooms have private balconies that boast magnificent views of the mighty snow-capped Kilimanjaro on one side and Lake Duluti and the rugged peaks of Mount Meru on the other. Mountain Village, built in January 1989, has been under Serena management since 1st October 2000.

The area is an ornithologist’s paradise. The nature trail around the magical Lake Duluti provides a sanctuary for over 130 different bird species. Guests can take a relaxing walk along Lake Duluti spotting all the stunning African birds or wander through the coffee plantations around the lodge.

The Lodge has 46 guest rooms (36 twins and six superior rooms). The restaurant and bar are located in the Old Colonial Farmhouse which has all modern amenities. Activities include lake shore walks to see the Columbus monkeys, forest   antelope and the abundant bush life. Excursions can be made to Mount Meru, mountain climbing of the famous Mount Kilimanjaro and trips to the markets of Arusha.
