Robin Pope Safaris' New Lodge in Majete Wildlife Reserve
Posted on: Tuesday, June 22, 2010
Another new lodge is under construction in Malawi!
Situated at the confluence of the Mkulumadzi and Shire Rivers, Robin Pope Safaris' new lodge in the Majete Wildlife Reserve will offer accommodation in eight individual chalets. Access to the site will be via a suspended foot bridge. The chalets will be spread along the Western bank of the Shire River offering guests spectacular views over the floodplain and river. There’s nothing quite as relaxing than reading a book or watching the abundant birdlife from your private deck whilst listening to the soft rumble of the passing water; and the not-so-soft grumble of the resident hippo population.
Each chalet will comprise of a sitting area, bedroom with king size or twin beds, viewing deck and bathroom fitted with sunk-in bath and double outdoor shower. The main lodge will also offer a number of places to relax and watch the wildlife pass by. It will consist of an inside and outside dining area, lounge with bar, a lapa for evening camp fires and a small shop. For those sweltering hot summers’ days, the rim flow pool will be a popular spot and a great place to enjoy a fruity cocktail with a view up river to the Mpatamanga rapids. Activities such as game drives, bush walks, river cruises and cultural experiences will be on offer.
The lodge promises to be unique and exclusive with accommodation and finishings to the highest standard. As a company, Robin Pope Safaris is striving to do their bit for the environment by implementing eco-friendly practices in both the building and operational phases. It will be run off solar power and every last detail is being considered right down to the individually air-conditioned bed! Construction has begun and the luxury lodge will open in 2011.
