Lake of Stars 2010 countdown begins...
On the 15th of October thousands of music fans from across Malawi, Southern Africa and Europe will descend on Nkopola Lodge on the Mangochi Lakeshore for a three day music and arts festival, Lake of Stars. Founded by UK events organiser, Will Jameson in 2004 after his experience as volunteer in Malawi, the Lake of Stars festival has grown from a few travellers and locals partying on a beach to an internationally renowned music and arts festival and the highlight of the Malawi music calendar.
This year’s line up is set to be bigger and better than last year with UK band Noisettes headlining alongside the legendary Oliver Mtkudzi from Zimbabwe , along with other UK acts Get Cape Wear Cape Fly , Afrikan Boy, Tinashe and Jon Mclure. Along with international acts the festival has the best of Malawian talent on offer with Peter Mwanga and Sally Nyundo amongst others.
Lake of Stars is not limited to music, having developed into a well-rounded arts festival. Dance, Arts and Craft, Fashion and Workshops also play a major part, alongside the new ‘Development Village’ which exposes visitors to the excellent work of local charities.

There are plenty of accommodation options for those attending the festival, with rooms available at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge and nearby Club Mac. An on-site campsite, fully equipped with Showers and a Bar is the most popular option and can be booked through Sunbird Nkopola Lodge – email nkopola@sunbirdmalawi.com.
Advance tickets will soon be on sale in Malawi for MK7500
Tickets in South Africa can be purchased from STA Travel branches
