Ethiopian Airlines, effective January 1st 2011 will operate daily direct services between Addis Ababa and Lilongwe resulting in 6 flights a week from London-Heathrow T3 (evening departures) to Lilongwe with only one stop in Addis Ababa and a transit time of 2 and a half hours or less. There will be a choice of 7 return flights a week to the U.K via Bole International airport - Addis Ababa, a spacious and a modern airport offering a pleasant & smooth transit experience. Including a VIP lounge, there are several cafes, restaurants and duty free shops at the airport as well as a bank, bureau de change and telephone facilities.

Offering competitive fares from the U.K with flexible fare conditions, the airline also offers a generous baggage allowance of 46kgs + 7kgs hand luggage to Lilongwe and majority of its other 38 destinations on the African continent. Ethiopian Airlines continues to expand its network & frequency and operates, in most cases, double daily scheduled services to Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Mombassa, Entebbe, Kigali, Jo'burg, Harare & Lusaka. Current promotional fare to Lilongwe, valid for sales until 24December is £564.00 including all taxes, for travel between 11January - 31March 2011.

Ethiopian Airlines fleet modernisation program includes several firm orders of new aircraft including Boeing 777s and 787 Dreamlines amongst others and it took delivery of its first B777 during the 3rd week of November 2010. The airline will shortly commence services to Maputo (Mozambique), Malakal (Sudan) and Bangui (Central African Republic).
